TAKE-Offs

 What is a take-off?

This is a term used in the construction industry for creating a list of materials from a building plan for any project.

Who can do take-offs for me?

Suppliers, specialty contractors, architects and anyone who knows a specific phase of construction.

Why does 6x6 think the system is so accurate?

You are creating a take-off from a master list of material that you have created. From previous jobs by doing this, you address all items needed and remove the ones you do not need. Your master is a key to accuracy.

Why does 6x6 think the system is so easy to estimate?

The system consists of many Sections and Types for residential construction therefore when estimating you are only thinking of one section at any time.

Section and Types

 What is a Section?

A section is a distinct part of a whole house or project. The system has many pre-programmed sections for your convenience although you can create as many new ones as you choose.

What is a Type?

A type is a part of a section. Example Windows is the section. The types are double hung, casement, awning, or sliding. Create as many types per section as you choose.

Master Sections and Types

Note; the system operates from your master sections and types. When you create a new job and choose the section and types that pertain to this job you are setting up the system to copy the information from the master you chose.

Can I have more than one Master?

Yes, you can create as many masters as you choose.

Why would I want more than one master?

You can create a master for a ranch, a two story, an addition, garage, etc. This saves you from reviewing section that do not apply and minimizes what you need to address for a particular job.

Estimate verses Actual Mode

 Add and Remove information

Note: you can add and remove items at will, remember you are working in one job one section at any time and you will not change any information in any other job.

Note: as you create your items, allowances, notes, instructions, sub/labor in the estimate mode and you have completed your estimate, and then change your job to the actual mode all of your information and data is saved for monitoring purposes and you do not need to create it again for the actual mode. As you, proceed with purchasing and contracts the system will monitor the cost against the estimate and you can see where you are over or under your costs as estimated.
